How would one go about installing a deck light such as this into a stone wall?

Would you just cut into the stone so that the light would fit? Would that weaken the structure of the wall significantly?  Or would you remove an entire brick to fit it, and would that weaken the structure of the wall significantly?

I would have installed it when the wall was being built. How are you going to cut stone? If you plan on removing stone, it depends on how the wall was built. Is it stack stone w/ little mortar……..then removing stone directly influences what is above. You’d have to tear down the wall to that point and rebuild atop…..even then the weight of the stone may be too much.

If mortared in, then chances are better you could get the stones out to put in the light, but better have a way to fill in. Being a 12 volt system, wiring isn’t as critical……I’d still run the wire in PVC or something protective to prevent being nicked by digging in the soil.

What is this about brick? Is it stone or brick. Chances are better removing bricks as fitting in around the light box would be easier.

I think removing stones or bricks would weaken the structure of the wall, but it is worth a try.
